Sharon DeAlexandris has been an artist all her life. She was a high school art major and college art major eons ago. She taught art in the junior high level for 14 years in Michigan. In 1986, when the "lesson plan mind set" changed to "painting for her own pleasure", she entered juried shows and participated in invitational shows. She developed a relationship with 2 galleries in Michigan which regularly showed her work in one woman shows and featured artist shows.,etc. She always did free lance art work. She has been in the low country for about 6 years where she and her husband have built a home and studio. They travel and she has traveled to paint in many countries as she loves plain art work.
Her philosophy developed from her teaching of students. She taught creativity and the value of getting an idea as well as the structure of design concepts and the appreciation of art. In her own work, the "fresh idea" and the "challenge of creativity" has pushed Sharon to experiment with watercolor, acrylic, collage and mixed media. "The fun is in the process of letting the idea take you on a journey". She loves painting what interests her and choosing the media that expresses the idea with a sense of exploring and mystery.
