With her BA in anthropolgy, Beth Brya is self-taught through extensive reading and study with individual artists and in workshops. Her botanicals are watercolors, and landscapes and still lifes often in oils.

Born into a military family, and married to a career military officer, Beth Brya has lived all over the world. Her training as an anthropologist taught her careful observation skills and since moving to Beaufort over fifteen years ago, she has directed those skills from people and their cultures, toward the natural world around her. She “…tries to focus on the thing that made me pause for a second look. Painting our world is a constant challenge, and that’s what is so compelling – trying to meet that challenge.”
